When someone or something jeopardizes our life, all of us seek a sense of revenge on someone or something or sometimes on God if we don't find anybody else. When we believe in spotless clean worlds, we walk confession ridden corridors thinking there are neat categories of stacking good and evil. It is easy to categorize when we don’t understand that all are born human beings and shall die human beings.Sometimes in life it is the ones we love and trust the most who hurt us more than declared foes. But then we begin to learn that between birth and death, there lies a deeper tract wherein we choose to be either human or just being. Though returning good for evil is often a much religiously debated line of action, it requires greater strength to return good for evil than evil for evil. It is easy to want to poke a neighbour’s left eye because he darts quick our right one. It is easy, all we need is to pay him or her with the same coin. It does feel good that we smashed someone's face exactly the same way ours was done with yet by a payback we reverse the roles we sought to justify.
Human being, have you tried separating these two words ? The process of separation is a test of inner strength, of having to find the strength to let go of someone/something or payback, after being hardest hit. It is in that choice of either eye for an eye or just write off without returning evil that we become either human or being. And yet it is in participating in that process of a choice that we qualify as humanbeings.
Anusha, beautiful thoughts. But "Never, ever make that compromise. Love yourself first, and then others.” ― Chetan Bhagat. Pinney anganey ippol vitukodukan patuo? Adichi shapematende?
ReplyDeleteSandeep, the post doesn't speak about compromise. Compromise and let go do not imply the same attitude. Sure:)
