The loneliest object in a house is the hanger. It hangs there where someone left it. And it stays there like a mute memory.
A hanger can make memory swing backwards more and forwards less.
A swing on which I sat with my best buddy, thought I can touch the sky and touched the ground, hair falling over thrilled smiles.
A naked hanger that made me wish parents could stay at home and play than work.
A clothed one that made me snuggle into a cosy home.
And that final sense of death as someone I love most speaks of a mythical hanger drawing near.
A dangling one helps make sense of hanging from the ends of life.
Perhaps it is that last final image that stays on and makes me want to clothe a hanger for the rest of my life.
A hanger. What meaning you infuse into ordinary objects!
ReplyDeleteAnything in life is as ordinary and as extraordinary as we deem it to be.
