To Friendship Travails

No earthly, divine, human law
When our paths crossed bond us
Yet true faith made you
My life’s greatest confidant
A companion, unwavering and true.
Lost had I, my roots, broken wings
Forgotten my urge to fly.
A few steps more, become one
Might I’ve, with Death’s old soul
You brought back the receding waves
Of a child’s lost sea of dreams
In the pet name of endearing, fatherly tones,.
And the chocolates a little girl yearned long back
When an aunt gave both to a sibling
And the little girl fought a night of tears
To know the reason for the painful difference
In a long walk examining trees, fruits, soil
You made me forget the difference
And remember smiles, forget tears.
In silence, reflecting the calm of the waters,
You implied, didn’t have a right to make I
Of my breath, a deliberate cessation.
You taught, how base an emotion despair is,
To nurture and life a challenge to live.
You taught me love’s strength, failure’s brevity,
Courage’s mettle, individuality’s essentiality
My steps to retrace you helped
To find roots, mend wings
And fly the skies high.
Like the redeemer of mankind
Perhaps you’ll redeem my life.
I try a tough climb, to see
Bright stars in dark skies
Remembering a seagull and waters deep
I trust in your pride and joy
When I scale heights
For I know, if I stumble and falter
You’ll still pray for my strength
To believe in my next climb.
