The Defeat

The sun stole away,
Passing into oblivion
Placing a final kiss
Upon Earth’s parted lips.
For once, Nature gaped
To behold the splendid mystic.
O Earth you blushed!
And twinkled your eyes
While Sun clothed in majesty
Gazed at you with eyes
Hazy with drunken love.

You quivered like a leaf
And reddened under
His drunken caress.
Now you rest lone
With none to caress
Your withered body
The noble hero’s fled
And Dusk has arrived
To replace your hero.

He envelops you in darkness
And exploits your tender parts.
Grief vanquishes your beauty

If you heavenly body
Could admit despair
To rule upon your heart
Why not I, O Earth?
If you, who mothered me
Could be vanquished so
Why not I lose heart
When despair fills me?
