Yet she found nerve
Enough to express
A grand sudden
Sense of womanhood
Polite enough not
For “shut up”
Instead frozen silence
And destiny relaxes
A puddle, a splash
An apology
And then
A query
Not to a woman
But as one would
To a toddler girl
“Did you get dirty?”
to be woman enough
was not her fancy anymore.
