How does it matter when something you longed for just happens to be amiss?
The faith, the trust you held to in someone more in the mind and heart than in social acts.
You longed for someone’s wish on a special day.
You realize it never mattered much.
You learn to defy destiny in a belated wish.
You learn to accept you didn’t mean much beside his world and fun.
You do not express how much you had longed for a wish on a special day.
You do not let know how much it would have meant to your life if he had.
You learn to mask emotion in an equally toned courtesy of a Thank You.
You realize nothing mattered to you except unquestioned trust as you crossed barriers, walked down a path and met unfamiliar familiarity.
You realize nothing mattered much to someone for whom kindness was second nature.
You realize nothing changed much within you as you find yourself sharing what you normally don’t or never have with anyone the same way.
You remember a childhood dictum from convent smelling memories- “don’t talk to strangers” yet you find yourself sharing and speaking to one throwing all reservations to the wind.
You learn to remember a dead man’s last words to you “Be Bold” through a stranger’s echo of it.
You just hold to the distant comfort across signals like a drowning man would to an oar.
You just know he has given you a strength without realizing it for you find your self defying destiny.
You hold hands in the mind, you fold emotions within as if nothing mattered anymore.
You know you met life at destiny's feet and you walk on yours.
