Grief

A soft melody bathed the air,
Gently the wind kissed me,
While I sat in a trance,
Relishing Nature’s delicacy.
Watching dainty flowers bloom
Among the rustling leaves
As gaily fluttered the butterflies
And bird perched in grace
Singing amid whispering trees
My heart with joy filled
And exultant smiled I
A smile of innocent joy
But then there flashed
Upon my tranquil mind
Man’s invasion of nature
I lost my tranquility
Faded away the melody
While I lament and writhe
With grief pierced deep
In this tender heart of mine
