Try not to break anybody,
You too were a seed one day.
Somebody grew you into a sapling.
You could be a weed someday,
Or a thoughtful tree,
And sow another seed,
To teach it grow in honorable ways,
Give it strength against
Tempting winds of evil,
Or when it breaks its bough,
And bends too low,
You could help it face
The breeze again
And nurse its cowardice
With a real song:
“A sin’s commendable,
When acknowledged within.
Even if grievous,
A confessed sin’s a pride.
At least you can keep straight.
A sinner’s a human child,
But the unrepentant is weakness’ coward,
With bent back, unwilling sight, unheard sound.
Accept your fault, there’s nothing
More honorable a man can accomplish.
But if you bend so low,
You could be a weed
And your seeds too.
